Working together
My training is in evidence-based nutrition. I draw on a mix of my training, clinical experience, academic research, intuition and client preferences to formulate my nutrition plans. If there’s a common theme between nutrition and modern medicine it is that the more we discover, the more we learn that context matters – we do not all react in the same way to what we eat.
My clinical experience has led me to focus on 4 key nutritional areas, all of which interact to underpin beneficial changes on the body and mind:
- Blood sugar balance
- Gut health and the gut microbiome
- Swapping more pro-inflammatory foods for anti-inflammatory alternatives
- Stress, sleep and movement patterns
What’s Next?
- If you’re interested in working with me, our first step is a brief phone chat. You can tell me about your concerns and priorities and I’ll explain what options are available and recommend either a stand-alone food & lifestyle ‘MOT’ or a more in-depth nutritional therapy package.
- I’ll send you a food diary to complete before we first meet.
- If you choose the Food and Lifestyle MOT route, we will meet twice, for up to 45 minutes each session, looking at how you can improve your general health and reduce your risk of chronic disease. We’ll base this on your unique circumstances – work/life balance, energy levels, budget, food preparation skills and equipment, and most importantly, what you enjoy and fits in with your lifestyle. You’ll go away with some tasty recipes and handouts to support my 4 key pillars of healthful nutrition.
- For Nutritional Therapy consultations, I will ask you to fill out a comprehensive questionnaire alongside your food diary.
- We will then meet for about 90 minutes: I’ll ask you to expand on the questionnaire and talk about about your health priorities, your food preferences, capacity for and barriers to change, what you enjoy and what can fit with the other commitments & priorities in your life. Together we will devise a series of actions to address your most important concerns.
- You will receive these actions written up as a comprehensive and personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan. It will include advice on foods, recipes, movement, stress management and if you choose, supplements and/or further testing.
- We’ll then meet back up, according to the schedule of your package, and we’ll work on any changes that we need to make to the plan. For full follow up sessions I’ll send you a shorter questionnaire and food diary beforehand. We’ll celebrate your successes and I can hold you to account for the more difficult actions you want to push through, and we can also tweak things to make them more achievable where needed.
- The whole process is collaborative – I bring my knowledge of nutrition & fitness, and my clinical & personal experience. You bring the expertise in your own life, culinary and health experiences. My aim is to suggest actions that will have the most impact on your current health concerns, but that will fit with how you want to live your life. I can also support you to explore how your food choices reflect your personal values
- Ultimately, You Choose what and how to change while I provide guidance on how those changes could impact your health. I also aim to support you to sustain the actions that work and help you build your own capacity to make choices that support your nutritional health throughout your life.
